Welcome to Gingham + Ginger!

So, this is the beginning!

I'm not going to lie, I'm a bit nervous about how Gingham + Ginger will all pan out. This blog has been months in the making and I'm STILL tweaking a few things, it's a bit nerve-wracking!

All nerves aside, welcome to Gingham + Ginger! I'm so happy that you're here, please feel free to stop by whenever you wish as there will be new content on a frequent basis.

About Me:

Hey lovely! My name is Talia and I'm a Palm Beach based Social Work student and a volunteer Crisis Counselor at Crisis Text Line (a non-profit 24/7 text line for those in crisis. All you need to do is text START to 741-741. We're here for you if you need us).

You'll probably hear me chat about my thoughts as a Social Work student quite often in the college section of my blog (woohoo!), but it's unlikely that you'll hear me talk about my shifts at Crisis Text Line primarily because maintaining confidentiality is extremely vital. But, this doesn't mean that Crisis Text Line is going to be completely cut out of my blog! I plan on leaving the number and the short code in each and every post. It's helpful to have a reminder that you aren't alone in whatever you might be going through, Crisis Text Line is here to listen.

Apart from my studies, I enjoy reading, curling up with my cat or going for a nice run.

Fun fact: I'm also a former equestrian! WHAAAAT? Yep, you most definitely read that right!

Not my first rodeo:

Before Gingham + Ginger, there was Diary of my Closet, which I started when I was 16 (I'm in my 20's for reference). I ran it on and off for 3 years, but I felt limited. I didn't want to solely blog about fashion and I wanted to continue my blogging journey.

Which leads us to.. Gingham + Ginger!

There were many reasons why I decided to take the plunge and create Gingham + Ginger, but the one that stands out to me the most has to be this: social work is an emotionally DIFFICULT career path to be in and it really helps to have a fun outlet (being this blog) to turn to when things get a little tough. For me, blogging has always been so incredibly rewarding. I love the strong sense of community, I met a lot of wonderful people when I ran Diary of my Closet and I wasn't quite ready to leave all of that behind. I cannot wait to share this exciting new venture with you!

Here's to everything that is to come!

Sending hugs,

Let me know if you have any suggestions for posts in the comments! I am always open to new ideas!

Friendly Reminder: The number for Crisis Text Line, a 24/7 free text line is 741-741. All you need to do is text START and you will be connected to a trained Crisis Counselor. We're here for you and you don't have to go through this alone.
